Visitors to the Banyan Tree hotel in Bangkok can take part in a gruelling but rewarding vertical marathon event next month.
BANGKOK, THAILAND, October 01, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Visitors to Bangkok next month will be able to put themselves to the test by participating in the Banyan Tree Vertical Marathon.
To be held at the Banyan Tree hotel in the Thai capital on October 29th 2011, the physical challenge will see participants racing up the 61 storeys of the towering building in aid of a good cause.
Runners will have to travel up a total of 1,093 steps on their way up to the Vertigo Grill and Moon Bar, which lies at the top of the tower and acts as the finishing point for the race event.
Proceeds from the Banyan Tree Vertical Marathon, which is now in its 13th year, will be donated to the HIV Formula Feeding Fund, an initiative established by the Thai Red Cross.
Her Royal Highness Princess Soamsawali, the charity's patron, will be on hand to present a number of prizes to participants who make it all the way up.
Registration for the marathon costs 350 baht (GBP7.20), which includes an official T-shirt and a medal for completing the race.
