PARIS, FRANCE, July 29, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Paris Plage may be the ideal destination for holidaymakers who need a break from shopping and sightseeing in the French capital.

Although many people who are booked in at Paris hotels may have been inspired by the wonderful culture there is to explore in the city, this does not mean they cannot take a little time out to relax.

The Paris Plage initiative was established in 2002 and is running until August 20th this year, offering travellers and residents a 'seaside break' within the busy city.

Open from 08:00 to midnight local time, it is free to enter the Paris Plage areas, which can be found at Pont de la Gare, Bassin de la Villette and from Le Louvre to Pont de Scully.

There are all sorts of sports available to try - such as the traditional French game of petanque - as well as other activities set up to keep youngsters busy while their parents have a rest on the 'sandy banks' of the Seine.
